Letter: What 'sanctuary' means
From constant media reports, it seems the people who have stated their cities and states are sanctuaries for immigrants don't know what that means. They complain when they are sent the people they said they wanted. Didn't they know that would require them to feed, clothe, house, educate and medicate them until they were self-sufficient? To my knowledge, none of these sanctuaries said they would be a sanctuary only if the federal government paid for it. If they now can't or won't do that themselves, then they should publicly revoke their "sanctuary" status. Not doing so makes them look like ignoramuses - or hypocrites. Or both.
