Elgin Soup Kitchens boosted at Elgin Culver's

On a warm sunny day, Culver's at 1175 N. McLean Blvd. in Elgin hosted Soup Kitchen volunteers from 12 churches, working together to purchase a new fridge.

It was June 5, and the volunteers substituted for restaurant staff.

Sensing the need for Soup Kitchens in the Elgin area, Culver's Manager Ross Thomas arranged for Culver's to donate a significant share of the 4 .p.m - 8 p.m. sales to the Elgin Cooperative Ministries and food pantries.

A large crock pot was even on hand to accept individual donations.

It was an amazing example of Elgin residents pulling together to support local families in need.

Soup Kettle partners included St. James AME, Second Baptist, Bethesda Church of God in Christ, Harvest Bible Chapel, First United Methodist Church, Zion Lutheran Church, First Congregational Church, Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren, Free Church, Helping Hands Caring Hearts, and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
