Letter: Hey, dads. Let's play ball

Allow me to share a couple of thoughts about Father's Day. One of my favorite moments in the film "Field of Dreams" is when the movie character Ray Kinsella gets to play a last game of catch with his long-departed father John Kinsella. I get teary eyed, remembering fondly the times when I once played catch with my dad. What I wouldn't give to have my dad come back to my world and play catch with me again.

I can't remember when I last saw a father and son (or daughter) playing catch in an Arlington Heights front or backyard. Playing catch seems to be limited to warmups before Little League games in the various parks. So c'mon, dads. Play catch this Father's Day with your son or daughter. You might be surprised how good it makes you feel. Plus other benefits.
