Officials ID man who drowned Sunday after jumping into Chain O' Lakes channel

Lake County authorities have released the name of the man who died early Sunday after jumping into a channel on the Chain O' Lakes.

After an autopsy Monday, the Lake County coroner's office said Anthony Mendoza, 25, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, drowned after leaping into the "Long Channel" between Petite Lake and Spring Lake about 1:05 a.m. Sunday.

After an hourlong search, Mendoza's body was found around 6:30 a.m.

The drowning remains under investigation by the Lake County sheriff's Marine Unit.
