Letter: Rational gender decisions

Gun control advocates cite studies that the frontal cortex is not fully developed in a 16-year-old and therefore he or she should not be allowed to buy or own a gun. States generally don't allow alcohol purchases until you are 18 or 21. The military won't take recruits until you are 18. So why would it be OK to let a 6-year-old make a decision about his or her gender and irreversible therapy even with parental approval. We are in for a generation of mixed-up and angry men and women. Let's get serious about a rational course of action.
