North Aurora man injured, ticketed in Batavia crash

A North Aurora man was injured Wednesday when he crashed into the side of a semitrailer truck at Merlo Street and South Batavia Avenue in Batavia.

As a result of the crash, which occurred about 11:30 a.m., 65-year-old Christopher Tondola was trapped inside his Lexus ES250, Batavia police said in a news release.

The Batavia Fire Department had to cut Tondola from his vehicle before taking him to the hospital.

Tondola's injuries were not life-threatening, the news release said. The truck driver was not injured.

South Batavia Avenue was closed for approximately two hours as authorities cleared the roadway and conducted their investigation. Tondola was issued a citation for failure to yield, the news release said.
