Gilberts Community Days returns June 1-4 with live music, a classic car show, and more

Gilberts Community Days returns on June 1-4 with something for everyone.

There will be live musical entertainment on stage, free children's activities including a petting zoo, a carnival full of rides and games, a classic car show, beer tent, and more at Town Square Park, 195 Jackson St., Gilberts.

The annual festival opens on Thursday, June 1, with the carnival only from 6 to 10 p.m. The festival continues from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, June 2; noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 3; and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 4. Admission is free.

The music stage will open on Friday, June 2, with The Lennys at 5 p.m., followed by Hillbilly Rockstarz at 6:30 p.m. The headliner Modern Day Romeos will take the stage at 8:30 p.m.

On Saturday and Sunday, stop by the Business & Crafter Expo from noon to 5 p.m. or the Kids Zone from noon to 4 p.m. with a petting zoo, Gilbert Rocks, children's crafts and activities, and more.

The first community show will be held at noon Saturday, with face painting by Fun Funky Fab from noon to 4 p.m.

The police and fire departments will be showing off their gear and bringing games, giveaways and handouts from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. They also will have a police dog demo at 1 p.m. Saturday and equipment to try on. There also will be an Honor Guard tribute to veterans at 3 p.m.

At 1:30 p.m., iPop will kick off the afternoon of music on Saturday, followed by southern rock band Renegade Wildflower at 4 p.m., the 1990s tribute band Run Forrest Run at 6 p.m. The headliners 7th heaven will take the stage at 8 p.m.

On Sunday, head over to the Cruisin' and Pub 72 restaurants for the Classic Car Show opening at 9 a.m.

Kids can watch JG's Reptile Show at noon Sunday, then enjoy "meet & greet" with Spiderman, Mirabel and Princess Elsa. Remember to bring a camera.

The music stage will open with Blackberry Jam performing a blend of rock, country, blues, and soul music at 1:30 p.m. and the Rollings Stones tribute band Rocks Off at 4 p.m. The festival will close out with the popular Beatles tribute band American English at 6 p.m.

Other highlights during the festivities include a dunk tank from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with donations benefiting Shop With a Cop, Hoof Woof & Meow's pet adoption, and a 50/50 raffle by the Knights of Columbus.

The Taste of Gilberts will feature Blackhawk BBQ & Seafood, Got Calzoni, Midwest Citrus Smashers, Cook's Ice Cream, as well as food from the Knights of Columbus, Cruisin' and Pub 72.

Advance carnival tickets are available until May 31 at the village hall, Addy's Subs & Salads, Pub 72, and Cruisin'.

Unlimited rides are $30 from 6 p.m. to close on Thursday and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. It is $35 from 6 p.m. to close Friday, and 5 p.m. to close Saturday and Sunday.

Remember to bring donations for the Gilberts Community Days's annual food drive to benefit the District 300 Food Pantry and the FISH Food Pantry. All day on Saturday and Sunday, they will be accepting donations of: canned fruit; canned vegetables (corn, etc.); canned meat (tuna, chicken); mac & cheese; spaghetti sauce and other canned tomato products; peanut butter and jelly; bagged white rice; beans (can or bag); baby formula, cereal and food; personal hygiene items (any); or canned pasta (ravioli, etc).
