Palatine Library's summer reading program begins June 1 with kickoff party

"Dive Into Reading" this summer for Palatine Library's annual summer reading program.

Valid district cardholders of all ages are welcome to sign up for the program from Thursday, June 1, through Monday, Aug 7. Visit palatinelibrary.org to register on the Beanstack app. Log your books online or visit any library location to sign up.

Immerse yourself in the fun from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 3, with a kickoff party at the Main Library, which will feature a balloon show, face painting, crafts, family bingo and a chance to win prizes.

Pick up your tickets to see Balloons Under the Sea with Smarty Pants at 1 p.m., featuring fun magic, comedy, storytelling and, of course, balloons. For valid district cardholders of all ages.

After signing up, visit the Main Library to get a scratch-off card for your chance to win a prize. The scratch-off card has coupons and discounts from all around town, courtesy of our sponsors: Biaggi's, Borne2Dance, Chick Fil-A, Culvers, Grow Music Academy, Hoffman Estates Park District, Just Peachy Photography, Taylor Family McDonald's, My FlavorIt! Place, Palatine Park District, Papa Johns, Photos Hot Dogs, Raising Canes, Salt Creek Park District and Tievoli Pizza Bar.

Stop by the library and use its supplies and your imagination to create a Splash of Color art piece June 17-18 and July 15-16. (Check website for times). Design your own underwater adventures with ocean animals or a relaxing beach scene. Submit a photo of your finished piece to kids@palatinelibrary.org to be displayed on the library's digital monitors.

Help celebrate the end of summer reading with a concert performance by Little Miss Ann from 11-11:45 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7. In this interactive performance, Little Miss Ann combines music and movement for nonstop fun. Tickets are available for valid district cardholders Monday, July 24.

Finish your reading requirements by Aug. 7 to get a grand prize T-shirt or tote bag, generously funded by the Friends of Palatine Library. Sign up now and get caught on a good book this summer.
