Bicyclist critically injured in Route 31 crash in Batavia

A bicyclist was critically injured in a collision Tuesday afternoon in Batavia.

According to a news release from the Batavia Police Department, a Honda minivan driving north on Route 31 at 4:42 p.m. struck the bicyclist, who was leaving the Les Arends Forest Preserve and crossing Route 31 toward Millview Drive.

The bicyclist was taken by helicopter to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

No one in the minivan was injured.

Northbound Route 31 was shut down between Mooseheart Road and Sycamore Lane during the crash investigation

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with additional information should call Batavia police at (630) 454-2500.
