Letter: Make fathers accountable
Tonight, I read again of another state legislature's ban on abortions after x number of weeks. What continues to frustrate me is that there are no laws governing the father of these children. If these bans against abortion are truly in the name of the child's life, why aren't there rules for the fathers of these children?
It seems to me that fathers as well as the mothers should be made accountable for the monetary, physical (housing, etc.) and emotional well-being of these unborn children. If the father is too young to provide these, then his parents should be held responsible just as the young mother's parents will be.
Otherwise, these rules against abortion are simply sham and not truly in the best interest of these soon to be born children, which is why as a nation, we are so polarized on this issue.
The focus is solely on the mother, and not the unborn child.
