Letter: Hypocrisy on display regarding court ethics

I had to laugh as I read the article on May 3 about a proposed "overhaul of the high court."

Our pious senator, Mr. Durbin, seeks to pursue ethics rules for the Supreme Court, no doubt to embarrass Justice Clarence Thomas.

Stop already.

Will all members of Congress take an oath that they have not received gifts, trips, etc., the same as Justice Thomas? Most probably not.

I recall that recently members of Congress were not even decent enough to vote against enriching themselves through insider stock trading. How disgusting.

Mr. Durbin, why don't you retire, go home and set an example for those on both sides of the aisle who have ruined American confidence in our government?
