Casten, experts to talk about fringe law enforcement movement

Democratic U.S. Rep. Sean Casten of Downers Grove will host a virtual panel discussion about extremism and the constitutional sheriffs movement Sunday night. The public event is set for 6 p.m. on Casten's Facebook page, facebook.com/RepSeanCasten. Casten will be joined by experts on extremism and the movement. Sheriffs who follow the movement believe they are the supreme law enforcement authority in their counties and refuse to enforce laws they deem unconstitutional. The movement has ties to anti-government and white supremacist groups.
