Mundelein Public Works and Engineering Teams Up with Washington School to Celebrate Arbor Day

In recognition of National Arbor Day, the Mundelein Public Works and Engineering staff recently teamed up with Washington School for a special event and tree planting ceremony. Mayor Lentz presided over the event and spoke to an engaged audience of second grade students about the importance of planting trees and the impact this action has on the environment.

Mundelein Arborist, Adam Schmidt, was on hand to answer questions about trees. An essay and poster contest were held where second graders demonstrated what they have learned about trees over the last months. Students also assisted with planting a tree.

Students Mackenzie Calloway, Jayden Gonzalez-Meza, Teagan Ossey, Ariana Rodriguez, and Kayla Gomez Alvarez were announced as the WINNERS of the "Poems and Writings" contest.

Students Jossie Nava, Clea Graves, Aricela Rodriguez, Noah Lee, Ricky Haywood, and Leo Katznelson were announced as the WINNERS of the "Tree Drawings."
