Letter: Looking for reason in news reporting
The media are derelict in their duty. They are expected to report the news without bias, yet they use their influence to peddle their political agenda. If any of these facts are "news" to you it proves the point:
1. The Southern border is open and we are being assaulted by the Cartels in Mexico through human and drug trafficking. 5 million-plus have entered illegally since Biden took office.
2. Fentanyl killed more than 100,000 Americans last year. China uses cartels to transport.
3. It has been agreed and Hunter Biden admits his laptop is real ... and it reports the "pay-for-influence" schemes in detail. Bank records from just the first bank (of 12) reveal more than 150 suspicious transactions that were flagged by the IRS. Tens of millions of dollars known so far. This is not newsworthy?
4. Inflation is a government-inflicted problem caused by spending on wasteful climate issues and COVID-related programs. Throwing money at problems alone is not helpful.
5. Gas was $2.34 a gallon and the inflation rate 1.6% on the day Biden took ofc. The economic growth rate was at 6%.
Why can't we discuss our differences?
Lack of tolerance began with identity politics - and today we have our representatives talking past one another. It has been said, "The Republicans think the Democrats are wrong. The Democrats think the Republicans are evil."
Can we find common ground when neither side can find a thread of agreement?
Thank God our founders had vision and insight to deal with extremists on both sides of the aisle when writing our Constitution. We need to be mindful of political leaders that do not pay attention to the original intent and ignore the constitution. Once anarchists destroy our uniqueness of governance and our founding documents - where then will we turn for reason?
