Letter: Charge for bags statewide

I can't believe we are still fighting this plastic bag situation. Please charge for plastic bag use. There is no reason why people should not be using their own recycle bags. I understand that the Elgin merchants are concerned that people will shop in other towns but that issue can easily be solved if the whole state of Illinois started banning them or applied the fee for the use of them.
