Letter: Continue school district's progress

Over the past two years in Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211, our community has seen a distressing alliance formed between local religious extremists and far-right political groups. I'm concerned that these special interests don't represent the community we live in.

I'm very concerned about the upcoming April 4 election.

I am against:

• book bans;

• censored teaching of history;

• disregard for the wellness of LBGTQ students;

• religious prominence in public school decisions.

After watching The Daily Herald's interviews with the candidates, there are four candidates on the April 4 ballot that are prepared to stand up to the pressure that these extremists bring.

From what I've seen, Steve Rosenblum, Kimberly Cavill, Michelle Barron and Jane Russell have the maturity and experience to successfully pursue the well thought-out progress that we've become accustomed to expect in D211 high schools. Voters must turn out to support these four and help push back against those who hope to put their extreme politics ahead of the future growth of our students.
