Letter: Candidate will help keep library strong
As 30-year residents of Arlington Heights and having raised four children here, one of the constants throughout the many phases of our family life has been and continues to be the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, named last year as a five-star library by the Library Journal - second best library in the country in its budget category.
It's no wonder, because our library is so much more than books. From the new MakerPlace, impressive physical books collection, toddler story times, extensive genealogy collection, computer classes, expansive library programming to book clubs and more, there's something there for everyone.
The library needs and deserves dedicated and knowledgeable people to establish the policies that the administrative staff executes for the benefit of the community. Amy Somary is one such person.
Amy is finishing her first term as a trustee on the library board and is running for another term. Her academic background as a journalism major from Northwestern University, coupled with her professional career in public relations and her many years of serving on various school boards and in other community volunteer roles is the kind of experience that we need to ensure that AHML continues to shine on as the five-star jewel in the center of Arlington Heights.
