Police: Man and woman arrested after trying to rob Hoffman Estates bike store

After a brief chase, Hoffman Estates police apprehended a man and a woman officials say tried to rob a store around 2 p.m. Monday.

The pair entered Crank Revolution Bike Shop, 1636 W. Algonquin Road, and demanded cash, police said in a statement Monday afternoon. The duo implied they had a weapon but did not display one.

Officers arrived near the store at around 2:09 p.m. and ran after the two people.

The chase brought a large police presence to the area near Huntington Boulevard and Freeman Road, which is about a half-mile north of the bike store, according to a post by police on social media.

The man and the woman are in police custody, but charges have not yet been approved, officials said.
