Letter: Human compost bill upholds 'dignity'

My thanks and congratulations to Rep. Kelly Cassidy for co-sponsoring HB3158, a measure that would legalize the practice of turning human remains into compost. I don't understand the argument against this practice that cites the "dignity" of the human body. What is so dignified about placing the body in an overpriced, noncomposteable container in a silly attempt to stave off the inevitable rot? Isn't it more humane, and environmentally sound, to celebrate the rot by turning the body into healthy soil that can sustain a living plant?
