Lombard Police Department announces St. Patrick's Day DUI enforcement results

The Lombard Police Department announced it made two DUI arrests and issued 19 seat belt citations during the St. Patrick's Day enforcement period.

In addition, the Lombard Police Department issued the following:

• 37 speeding citations

• 5 car seat citations

• 26 distracted driving (cell phone) citations

• 27 other citations (moving/non-moving)

• 7 traffic-related arrests (no valid/suspended/revoked licenses)

• 2 warrant arrests

"We strongly enforce traffic laws for one reason - to save lives," said Traffic Safety Unit Patrol Officer Dan Herrera.

The Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket enforcement effort ran from Friday, March 10, through the early morning hours of Sunday, March 19, to keep impaired drivers off the roads and ensure people buckle up and follow all traffic safety laws.

The Lombard Police Department joined forces with state and local law enforcement and highway safety partners for the St. Patrick's Day enforcement campaign.

The effort was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
