Seigle Foundation awards $168k in Elgin arts grants

The Seigle Foundation has awarded $168,000 in grants to six local arts-related organizations.

They are: Children's Theatre of Elgin, Elgin Master Chorale, Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra's Starter Strings program, Gail Borden Public Library Foundation's Violins of Hope program, Hamilton Wings' CREATE program, and Side Street Studio Arts.

Grants are awarded to nonprofits doing work throughout the Elgin/Dundee area, the geographic focus of the foundation.

Dr. Rise' Jones, founder and executive director of Hamilton Wings, shares, "The Seigle Foundation grant gives Hamilton Wings the opportunity to imagine and actualize possibilities for supporting our youth, engaging our families, honoring cultures, and building diverse, vibrant, and vital communities through the arts."

"We are profoundly honored and grateful that our CREATE program has been selected as a Seigle Foundation Arts grantee and look forward to continuing to work with our partners to share the power and possibility of the arts," Jones said. "As a current CREATE participant stated, 'Art has me mesmerized and I learned to use my imagination to form my ideas.' Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
