Letter: Keep school district in the forefront

While watching D211 Board meetings, I've heard supporters of BOE member Mark Cramer implore the Board to engage in actions that will make our high schools more like those in the "free" states of Florida, Texas and Tennessee.

No thanks.

According to World Population Review, in 2020 Illinois ranked 8th in ACT scores nationally while Florida was 18th, Texas was 30th and Tennessee ranked 41st.

In the upcoming April 4 election, I hope that voters in the D211 community who are interested in moving our high schools forward will show up and not allow Cramer or his supporters to enter us into a "race to the bottom." In an increasingly competitive world, the futures of our students are too important.
