DuPage County seeks input on natural hazard mitigation plan

DuPage County's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management will host a public information and planning session regarding natural hazards that could affect the county.

The meeting is part of an effort to update the county's natural hazard mitigation plan. The meeting will be from 6 to 7 p.m. March 21 at the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management offices, 418 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton.

The staff will provide a brief presentation on potential natural hazards, including tornados, floods and blizzards, along with various mitigation measures. The public will be able to provide feedback on the presentation. Translation in Spanish will be provided.

The U.S. government requires local and state governments to have a FEMA-approved natural hazard mitigation plan to qualify for Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities and Hazard Mitigation Grant Program project grant dollars. The programs are critical sources of federal funding.
