Endorsements: Grossenbach, Agyeman and Keshav in District 103

This endorsement is a consensus opinion of the Daily Herald Editorial Board.

Regardless of how the April 4 election shakes out, Lincolnshire-Prairie View School District 103 will see some turnover. Only one incumbent, Marissa Grossenbach, is on the ballot, and she's joined in the race by four newcomers with varying backgrounds and reasons for seeking a seat on the board.

We endorsed Grossenbach when she first ran six years ago, and we do so again. She's knowledgeable, well-spoken and thoughtful, offering experience and continuity as the board welcomes at least two new members. That's important as the district grapples with space demands at its school that will need to be addressed in the coming years. In addition, Grossenbach describes herself as someone who sees the many shades of gray in issues others portray as black and white.

Nana Agyeman, a PTO volunteer, former teacher and Lincolnshire father of four, shares many of those traits. Of the challengers, he has the strongest grasp of the issues. We believe he would be a responsive board member, one who is able to take all perspectives into account before making tough decisions.

Also on the ballot are Kathryn Hoskins, a Lincolnshire mom and vice president of the Learning Fund Foundation; Sanjay Keshav, a manager at a pharmaceutical company from Vernon Hills; and Ning Zhang, an IT specialist living in Vernon Hills. Of the three, we lean toward Keshav, who has lived on three continents and brings a fresh perspective to the board. He stresses the importance of data-driven decisions and an open mind. He is the most prepared to work in a board setting.

Grossenbach, Agyeman and Keshav are endorsed.
