Girls track and field: Schwartz returns for Jacobs, wins 3,200 at FVC meet

The long mission back for Jacobs sophomore Bailey Schwartz began with promise Tuesday night at the Fox Valley Conference indoor meet hosted by Huntley High School.

Schwartz, who absorbed tendinitis in her knee and Achilles at last fall's cross country state meet in October, ran her first race since the injury.

The Jacobs sophomore claimed top honors in the 3,200 with a clocking of 11:57.20.

"It was great," said Schwartz. "I feel no pain whatsoever. I am very happy with my race."

Huntley was the team champion with 108.5 points.

The Red Raiders were led by Alexandra Johnson who won the 60 (7.81) and triple jump (12.25 meters).

Brittney Burak, who usually runs the 1,600 and 3,200, won the 800 in a time of 2:25.51.

"I went all out on the last lap," said Burak. "I am getting my groove for the outdoor season."

Ally Panzloff won the shot put with a throw of 11.37 meters.

Prairie Ridge, led by Rylee Lydon, placed second with 87 points.

Lydon was a triple winner for the Wolves claiming the 60 hurdles (9.31), long jump (5.81 meters) and 200 25.72).

Burlington Central was third with 76.5 points.

The lone winner for the Rockets was Paige Greenhagel, who won the 400 in 59.82.

"The competition in this event was great," said Greenhagel. "I feel I am improving during the indoor season."

Cary-Grove was fourth with 70 points.

Kathryn Perkins won the high jump with a leap of 1.52 meters.

The Trojans' 1,600 relay team crossed the finish line first with a time of 4:20.15. The winning foursome consisted of Juliana Ferrera, Katie Aniolkowski, Jocelyn Onstot and Sophoe Vongsiri.

Jacobs placed fifth with 64.5 points. Adeline Gorman won the pole vault with a vault of 2.90 meters.
