Pharmacy group to launch Pulse this summer

MOUNT PROSPECT - The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy said Thursday it will launch Pulse, a secure digital platform to simplify compliance with the Drug Supply Chain Security Act, or DSCSA.

With an expected launch this summer, the platform is the latest example of the many complex regulatory challenges the pharmacy association has solved throughout its 119 years, NABP said.

In November, DSCSA will move into an implementation phase that will require the electronic tracing of products at the package level to identify and trace certain prescription drugs as they are distributed in the United States. This will enhance the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's ability to help protect people from exposure to drugs that may be counterfeit, stolen, contaminated or otherwise harmful.

Pulse will provide access to user-friendly tools and a comprehensive network of verified relationships, enabling member pharmacies to maintain consistent communication with trusted trading partners of all sizes across the supply chain.

"As an association, protecting patients is at the heart of what drives NABP every day. Pulse, by NABP, is another example of how the association continues to innovate and develop practical solutions that protect patients," said Lemrey "Al" Carter, NABP executive director and secretary.
