KAIA String Quartet celebrates women composers at two concerts

The Chamber Music on the Fox continues its ninth season on Monday, March 13.

The virtuosic KAIA String Quartet and Chicago pianist Liang-yu Wang will present "Rediscovered: Piano Quintets of Florence Price and Amy Beach."

There will be two concerts at: 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at New England Congregational Church, 406 W. Galena Blvd. in Aurora, and 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 13, at First Congregational Church of Dundee, 900 S. Eighth St. in West Dundee.

In a world where white, male, European composers tended to dominate classical programs, this all-female performance will celebrate Women's History Month by highlighting the works of Amy Beach and Florence Price, two of the finest and most important female composers in American history.

The community is invited to this concert.

Advance tickets are available for $20 or $10 for students by contacting the Chamber Music on the Fox office at (224) 276-8881 or online at www.chambermusiconthefox.org or purchased at the door. Tickets for a virtual performance for $20 are also available from March 14-28.

Titled "Kaleidoscope," the 2022-23 season features an ambitious lineup that predominantly highlights female artists and ensembles.

To round out the ninth season, Chamber Music on the Fox welcomes Seraph Brass, a well-traveled all-female brass ensemble, presenting "Colors of Brass." The program will take place at New England Congregational Church in Aurora on April 30 and at the Ashbury in Elgin May 1.
