Aurora driver's license office worker pleads guilty to misconduct

A worker at the Aurora driver's license office has pleaded guilty to official misconduct.

Amy D. Williams, 54, of Aurora accepted a sentence of 24 months of conditional discharge and 30 hours of community service.

She was one of two workers at the office accused of creating fake lien releases and issuing fraudulent vehicle titles for personal gain.

The Secretary of State Police alleged that she and Charlene Queano, 50, of Villa Park received vehicle identification numbers from a dealership in South suburban Thornton. If there was a lien on the title, the two women created fake letters releasing the liens and issued new titles.

They did this for seven vehicles.

In December, Queano was admitted to a deferred-prosecution program. If she meets all the conditions of the program, the Kane County state's attorney's office will dismiss the charge.
