Letter: Check facts on financial data
In a recent column, Debra Saunders states that the U.S. deficit was $21.6 trillion in January 2021 and has "grown by close to $10 trillion since Joe Biden took office."
Per the polidiotic.com table, it was $21.6 trillion in December 2018 when Trump was in office. It was just under $27 trillion when Biden took office and has increased by $4 trillion during his term.
I agree with Saunders' contention that the deficits are out of control, but she and your editors need to do better fact checking before printing such erroneous data.
