Glen Ellyn fifth-grader takes state runner-up in Elks Hoop Shoot championship

Wilson Freymark of Glen Ellyn is the state runner-up in the 10- to 11-year- old boys age group in the 2023 Illinois State Elks Hoop Shoot tournament.

The state championship was held in Springfield on Feb. 11.

Wilson is a fifth-grader at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School in Glen Ellyn.

Regional contests will run Feb. 25 through March 25. The 72 Hoop Shoot national finalists - the best free throw shooters from 12 regions across the country - will compete to be Hoop Shoot National Champions on April 22 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago. For over 50 years, the Elks Hoop Shoot has hosted a free throw program for youth ages 8-13.
