Join Geneva church group in making DIY toys for pets at Anderson Humane

On Sunday, Feb. 26, the project for the monthly "Social Justice Sunday" will be "Furry Friends" at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva, 110 S. Second St.

Join them from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. to craft DIY toys for dogs and cats waiting at Anderson Humane for their new homes. Materials will be provided, no experience necessary. They will walk you through knotting old T-shirts that have been turned into "yarn" to make tug toys for dogs. They also will craft "candy" out of T-shirts for the cats and create a few feather cat toys as well.

Anderson Humane, headquartered in South Elgin, places over 4,000 pets into homes each year. In addition, they care for more than 3,000 injured and orphaned wild animals. They offer many programs and services to the community. Learn more at ahconnects.org. For a complete wish list of items needed for the animals, visit ahconnects.org/wish-list/.

Join them on every fourth Sunday at 9:30 a.m. for the monthly Social Justice activity. Social Justice projects are a way for everyone to give back to the community, near and far. Lend a hand, be part of something bigger, make a positive impact. All ages are invited and encouraged to participate.

The next project will be "Peace Rocks" on March 26. After painting rocks, participants will place them around the communities to bring smiles to faces.
