Elgin's First Congregational Church to open Spring Concert Series Feb. 26

On Sunday, Feb. 26, First Congregational Church of Elgin is hosting the first of four concerts in its annual Spring Concert Series.

It will feature concert pianist Lindsay Garritson starting at 4 p.m. in the sanctuary of the historic church at 256 E. Chicago St. in downtown Elgin.

Garritson has performed throughout the United States and abroad since the age of 4. She has appeared on stages such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Place des Arts (Montreal), and has been featured as soloist with the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra (Texas), Orchestre Métropolitain (Montreal), Atlantic Classical Orchestra, Orquestra Sinfônica Barra Mansa (Brazil), the Yale Philharmonic Orchestra, and the European Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. An award-winning performer, Lindsay has received top prizes at the Montreal International Piano Competition, USASU Bösendorfer International Piano Competition, and the Mozarteum International Chopin Competition (Salzburg). The concert series will feature the church's new state-of-the-art audio visual system which was completed in the spring.

Doors open at 3 p.m. A free-will offering will be collected.
