Naperville Christian Academy students donate get well cards to pediatric patients

Pediatric patients hospitalized at Naperville's Edward Hospital are receiving a special Valentine's Day get well card this year, donated by students at Naperville Christian Academy.

As part of the school's Valentine's Day festivities, Edward Foundation was asked to speak to the students about the impact of community support on patient care at Edward Hospital and how students can get involved.

After the discussion, the students got to work crafting special cards for children being treated at Edward.

Cards are being distributed through Edward Hospital's Child Life Program.

The Edward Foundation Child Life program was established at Edward Hospital more than 10 years ago to support hospitalized children and their families. The goal is to help children and parents cope successfully as they navigate the hospital environment.

The program relies on support from the community through monetary contributions, and toy and book donations. The personalized cards were given out to pediatric patients hospitalized this Valentine's Day.

Since it was established in 1990, the Edward Foundation has raised more than $57 million to support Edward Hospital's community healthcare initiatives, invest in the most advanced diagnostic and treatment technology, recruit world-class medical professionals and deliver the highest quality care to almost 1.7 million patients in its service area.
