BrightSide Theatre Youth Project to put on 'Sister Act Jr.'

BrightSide Theatre Youth Project will be bringing gospel music and dancing to the stage with its production of the musical "Sister Act Jr." on Feb. 18-26.

Based on the hit 1992 film and Tony-nominated Broadway musical, the "Sister Act Jr." musical comedy features original music by Alan Menken ("Newsies," "Beauty and the Beast," "Little Shop of Horrors"). When disco diva, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won't be a found: a convent! Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Soon, the gang is giving chase, only to find them up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood.

Performances will be at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturdays and 6 p.m. Sundays at the Theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall on the campus of North Central College, 31 S. Ellsworth Ave. in Naperville.

Tickets are $18 or $13 for students. For tickets, visit www.BrightSideTheatre.com or call (630) 447-8497.
