Letter: U.S. House leadership failing on Santos

Rep. Santos of New York fame has admitted to being a massive liar and cheat. And, if Brazil is correct, he will soon be able to add thief to his resume.

Most of the New York representatives have called on Santos to resign. However, GOP leadership continues to support Santos and continues to assign him to Committees. And why shouldn't they? After all he is upholding the finest traditions of the modern Republican Party.

In fact, with Mr. Santos' admitted to and continues to display the personal moral integrity of a top tier presidential candidate for the 2024 election. After all he certainly seems to have all the qualities of the most recent modern Republican president.

Of late, the qualification for Republican office seems to have morphed from duty, honor and country to lying, cheating, and thumbing your nose at democracy. After all, the current Republican House leadership all seem to have the moral backbones of a Slinky.

Can you just imagine the irony of calling this man "The Honorable Mr. Santos"?

I wonder what ever happened to people with the values and integrity of Lincoln, Eisenhower, George Bush the Elder, McCain, Edgar, and Thompson?
