Letter: Stain on democracy
Wow. Instead of our U.S. democracy serving as a "beacon for world democracy," the Jan. 6 seditious and treasonous acts have triggered a world-resounding impact. Embarrassingly, the Trumpian inspired actions have been cloned in Brazil. In reaction to Bolsonaro's election loss, recent headlines reported, "Hundreds of hard-core supporters of Brazil's former president, Jair Bolsonaro, have stormed the country's congress, presidential palace and supreme court in a stunning security breach…." Sounds disturbingly familiar. Our former president and his anti-democracy/failed election coup lot have now pathetically stained whatever democratic legacies we may have ever hoped to inspire elsewhere.
