Letter: Thoughts on various proposed reforms

The League of Women Voters of Lake County is pleased that the Daily Herald initiated a conversation on a variety of election topics in its six-part series. We have various responses:

1. There is a lot of interest in Ranked-Choice Voting. Perhaps experimenting in local elections will allow voters to assess its usefulness.

2. We've noted that the public is confused about the election process for judges, especially the need to run with party identification.

3. League members who organize candidate forums, or seek input for voter guides often have difficulty finding candidates' contact information.

4. We support providing as much fair and objective information as possible to voters, including about referendums.

5. Our national organization actively supports legislation and joins court cases to fight voter suppression.

As an organization with a mission to empower voters and defend democracy, we appreciate the Daily Herald's attention to these election-related topics.
