Letter: Thanks, President Biden, for letting us sleep again

When the insanity of Donald Trump's never-ending drama circus from the White House finally ended, my sleep and that of my spouse, thankfully and mercifully, greatly improved. Why? The insanity of those four years did not stop for anything or anyone.

They gave us all fodder for jokes, slurs and fostered an uneasiness, no one truly expected. Pure anxiety, day in, day out. We'd attempt rest, then wake up, grab the paper (The Daily Herald, of course) or check out trusted media sources, only to read or hear of another cabinet member fired, a tantrum targeted at anyone who attempted to advise or inform him, another photo opp based on self-promotion, COVID lies, national security dismissals and on and on. All of this and his daily shenanigans/rants, added to our heightened stress, anxiety and the "what's next" thoughts in the back of our minds.

The gaslighting of our nation and the world wracked our abilities to relax, to truly have meaningful rest.

As we tried to cope, the 24/7 madness that was dominating the White House was beyond brutal. When going to bed during those hellish four years, the knowledge that another day of his term had supposedly ended, never happened. A very bad dream that would not cease. Until, until he was gone from office on January 20, 2021.

Then ... ahhhh!

Moving forward and two years later, my spouse and I with to thank President Joe Biden, your teams/staff for giving us our restful sleep back, full well knowing and having a clearer confidence of a brighter tomorrow. Thanks again.
