Naperville Unit District 203 hosts FIRST Lego League tournament for junior high
For the first time at the junior high level, Naperville Unit District 203's 10 FIRST Lego League teams competed at a tournament at Naperville North High School on Dec 3.
The district thanks the Naperville Education Foundation, with the support of Molex, for sponsoring all 10 of these teams.
The team members collaborated to present innovative projects about solving energy issues. They coded robots to complete challenging missions. Most of all, they worked together and demonstrated their core values throughout the whole season and the tournament.
Congratulations to the following teams who were recognized with specific awards:
• Lincoln's Team Croissant Dats for receiving the Breakthrough Award, recognizing a team that made significant progress in their confidence and capability in robot design, the Innovation Project, or core values.
• Madison's Team Cheesy Treadmills for receiving the Motivate Award, recognizing a team that embraces the culture of FIRST Lego League through team building, team spirit and displayed enthusiasm.
• Kennedy's Team Innovative Iguanas for receiving the Core Values finalist award for extraordinary enthusiasm, spirit, teamwork, and respect.
Another huge thank you to Geoff Schmit and the Huskie Robotics team for planning, hosting, and operating the tournament. The student leaders do an incredible amount of work before, during, and after the tournament to offer this tournament for the community. It was a wonderful day of robotics.
Congratulations to all the junior high FIRST Lego League teams on their first official season!
