Letter: Diverse columns needed

I would like to respond to a letter written by Mitch Lelito that criticized the Daily Herald for publishing a column by Byron York. The complaint was that Mr. York's article was "one-sided" and in this case, a conservative viewpoint. The solution offered was to "counsel" Mr. York and other columnists to presumably write more balanced articles. He is essentially asking the Herald to decide what is acceptable "free" speech.

Byron York and other writers like him are syndicated columnists. The basic function of the editorial section is to provide opinion pieces on a variety of topics from multiple sources and with different points of view. I usually agree with Byron York, and I would like to see the Herald create more balance in its editorial pages, because unlike Mr. Lelito, I find the majority of articles on these pages to be decidedly left-leaning.
