Letter: Respectful donations

Having volunteered at a few nonprofits in the area, if you are considering donating to any, please respect the nonprofits by only donating items you would purchase yourself at a garage sale or thrift store.

Broken items, dirty items, items missing pieces and parts cannot be reused, fixed or resold. If you are donating clothes, please do not donate used socks, underwear, negligees, bras, etc. They cannot be reused (health reasons). Only new, tagged and in packages can be used.

Do not donate stained clothes or torn clothing - nonprofits don't have the manpower or ability to fix or clean them. Do not donate if there is excessive pet hair, perfume or cigarette smoke. These cannot be cleaned and are usually thrown away.

Also know that not all nonprofit recycle used clothes. If you have those types of items you need to find a recycle bin in the area to take them to.

All nonprofits 100% appreciate your donations, but please be considerate of what you donate and do not leave donations outside when the nonprofit is closed. Thanks.
