Foundation vows to bring awareness to female veterans' needs
United Relief Foundation's pre-Christmas delivery of donations to the National Women Veterans United also included a United In Service 2023 raising awareness campaign resolution.
Women veterans are the fastest-growing group in the veteran population. They are also the fastest-growing group in the homeless population, and four times more likely to become homeless than their male peers.
In general, women veterans face significant economic and housing challenges; however, veterans who are single mothers are particularly vulnerable.
United Relief Foundation President Frank Salato discussed his foundation's Women Are Veterans Too campaign with National Women Veterans United President Rochelle Crump, who confirmed the merits of more public awareness regarding women veterans' challenges.
United Relief Foundation is a 501(c)(3) humanitarian aid organization based in Deerfield, and the National Women Veterans United is a 501(c)(3) service organization based in Chicago.
