Hoffman Estates offers recycling of Christmas trees, wreaths

The village of Hoffman Estates is offering residents options for the recycling of Christmas trees and wreaths after the holidays are over.

Christmas tree collection is scheduled on regular service days during the first two weeks of January.

All lights, ornaments, garland and artificial decorations must be removed.

Plastic disposal bags are prohibited, and one disposal sticker must be visibly wrapped around the tree trunk or branch.

Yard waste stickers are available at local retailers, village hall and on the village's website. For more information, call (847) 781-2631.

Christmas trees and greenery also can be dropped off at no charge anytime from Tuesday to Jan. 6 at the public works fleet maintenance facility at 2405 Pembroke Ave.; the field next to Fire Station 23 at 1300 Westbury Drive; and the field next to Fire Station 24 at 5775 Beacon Pointe Drive.

Signs will direct residents to drop-off areas at all locations. For more information, call public works at (847) 490-6800.
