Letter: Kudos to North Central College's DIII champs

Kudos to the Division III North Central College Cardinals football team for winning the DIII national championship.

I also commend the Daily Herald for providing quite a few articles on North Central during the season.

I have watched them for the past four years because my grandson attended NCC and played soccer there and because we lived in Naperville for 35 years.

It's a great accomplishment considering at the DIII level these are truly student athletes - no college scholarships to play sports.

Finally, congratulations to NCC running back Ethan Greenfield, who won the Gigliardi trophy, the small-school equivalent of the Heisman. Considering the thousands of kids playing DIII football, this is a fantastic honor. Will Ethan play on Sunday? Hard to say, but I hope he at least gets a chance.
