Letter: Cartoon on prisoner swap was disturbing

I am very disturbed by the Sunday cartoon on the prisoner swap with Russia. I get the meaning. I understand the huge difference in the caliber of people in the trade. However, hostage trades are horrible. Unless it is a trade for your loved one.

But honestly our country does not arrest those from other countries just because. So whomever we aretrading will always be a really bad guy. The people we trade for will be a regular person so it will never be even or fair I also find it interesting that Paul Whelan has been held for over four years. Two of those years with a different president.

I heard nothing from the Republicans about his release for those years. But now they are incensed. Even the Whelan family has stated that the White House did not help them or really communicate with them with the other administration.
