Aurora church to host pizza dinner, 'Polar Express' screening

Continuing its Gathering Community series, Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora will hold a pizza dinner, family activity and showing of the "Polar Express" movie on Wednesday, Dec. 21.

The free community event will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church, 14 N. May St.

Launched in September, the Community Gathering series features a free dinner followed by a family activity.

Michelle Curiel, Gathering coordinator and church youth director, said the Dec. 21 event will open with a pizza dinner.

After dinner, activities will include making ornaments, decorating holiday cookies and showing the "Polar Express" holiday film.

A 2004 family, fantasy film, "Polar Express" is an inspiring adventure based on the beloved children's book by Chris Van Allsburg.

When a doubting young boy takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery that shows him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe.

Gathering Community events are held on first and third Wednesdays.

Series events for Jan. 4 and 18 will be announced.

Wesley holds Sunday worship services online at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. in-person. A freewill offering is accepted.
