Letter: Is there really a solar payoff?

Consider this ...

It takes 100,00 square feet of solar panels to produce 1 megawatt of power. That's 1 million watts.

The average Home Depot has a floor space of 100,000 square feet. Why aren't they using solar?

The average warehouse being built today is usually a multipurpose facility averaging 500,00 square feet. I'm no electrical engineer, but I think a megawatt should easily provide enough power to run such a building.

In Lake County, Medline opened a 1 million-plus warehouse. Why no solar panels?

Yet I'm pestered every week about how the payoff is to my advantage if I destroy the look of my home with solar.
