Letter: A true hero's story
On Dec. 7, I very much enjoyed and appreciated your article about Lou Conter, the 101-year-old survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack on the Arizona. His story of the attack and his entire military career is inspiring and quite emotional to read. Even though he denies being a hero, I must respectively disagree. He is a supreme example of the many military heroes who have defended the United States and democracy in other countries. I salute you sir, as should all Americans who value our society, way of life and democracy.
