Letter: Time for action on mental health board

The voters of Wheeling Township approved the referendum for a mental health board in the November election. The Wheeling Township supervisor is required to appoint a volunteer board within 60 days of the election certification, January 29th according to the law.

The advocates of the referendum would be ready to support Wheeling Township in setting up the board by suggesting qualified volunteer citizens to start planning for the increased funding for mental health, substance abuse and intellectual disabilities services set out in the referendum.

It is hoped that the Wheeling Township supervisor recognizes that this action is only to provide the much-needed services that could be funded through the referendum and make this process as transparent and cooperative as the voters of Wheeling Township hope it should be.

The voters have spoken and now it time for action by the Wheeling Township supervisor to implement this required and necessary aid to all of the citizens of Wheeling Township.
