Dr. Michael Durbin Installed as 2023 President of the Chicago Dental Society

With more than 30 years of experience in orthodontics, Michael Durbin, D.D.S., M.S., of Prospect Heights, Illinois, was installed as the 2023 President of the Chicago Dental Society (CDS) on November 13. Dr. Durbin has held multiple leadership positions with CDS, serving as Secretary, Treasurer and Vice President in addition to multiple leadership positions with the organization's Northwest Suburban Branch, including the roles of Branch Director and President.

As President, Dr. Durbin will lead planning efforts and preparations for the 158th Midwinter Meeting, which will be held at McCormick Place West in Chicago, February 23-25, 2023. The Midwinter Meeting is CDS' annual scientific meeting and one of the dental industry's premier events. The 2023 event will offer attendees access to more than 240 courses taught by world-class speakers and today's leaders in dental innovation, live exhibits, and networking opportunities with colleagues and friends.

In addition to his leadership roles with CDS, Dr. Durbin is very involved in the specialty of orthodontics, holding leadership positions in multiple organizations, including the American Association of Orthodontists, Midwestern Society of Orthodontists, Illinois Society of Orthodontists and the Illinois State Dental Society. During the course of his career, Dr. Durbin has received fellowships from the International College of Dentists, American College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy, Odontographic Society of Chicago and Academy of Dentistry International and earned professional awards, such as the Illinois State Dental Society's President's Award and American Dental Association's President's Award, for his exemplary contributions to dentistry and the profession. In 2022, he was awarded the inaugural Raymond George, Sr. Award for Outstanding Donated Orthodontic Service from the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation.

Dr. Durbin graduated with honors from Loyola University Chicago and went on to earn his dental degree and Master of Science in orthodontics from the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry. For more than 30 years, Dr. Durbin has operated a private orthodontic practice in Des Plaines, Illinois, and, since 1998, is a partner at Associated Dental Specialists of Long Grove, Illinois. Dr. Durbin lives in Prospect Heights, Illinois, with his wife, and they have two grown children. Outside of work, Dr. Durbin enjoys sports, snowmobiling, wave running, boating and spending time with his family.

Established in 1864, CDS is the largest local component of the American Dental Association, with more than 4,000 members in Cook, Lake and DuPage counties.
